Sara is returning to the Bay after 2 years of midwifery study in El Paso, Texas. There, she completed a rigorous clinical program, attending births at one of the highest volume birth in the United States. After graduating from Maternidad La Luz, she began attending homebirths and working at Luna Tierra and The Retreat birth centers. She is excited to be back in the Bay Area and offer her 6 years of reproductive justice services to the families there. Her specialties and passions include chest/breastfeeding, mental health in pregnancy and postpartum, herbalism and pelvic floor health and wellness.
She returns with the hope of supporting new families in the postpartum period, offering her breastfeeding expertise, nutritional guidance and midwifery skills for clients needing support and feedback during the early days with a new baby. Sara considers herself a trauma informed provider and also offers a compassionate ear for the unpacking of difficult birth experiences and holding the complexity of new parenting, which can be so joyful and so challenging at the same time.
